How to preserve receipts, tickets and tiny paper memories

Receipts are the fragile ones

Many receipts are printed on thermal paper, which can fade with heat, light and friction. If a receipt matters, photograph it before cutting or attaching it so you still have a record if the print fades later.

Keep things dry and flat

Avoid pasting damp paper or packaging with food residue. Let pieces dry completely, flatten them under a book if needed, and remove crumbs, oil or loose adhesive before adding them to your journal.

Use a light hand with glue

A small amount of acid-free glue stick or archival adhesive is usually enough for lightweight paper. Too much moisture can wrinkle thin tickets and receipts.

Do not chase perfection

This is still a travel object, not a museum archive. A crease, faded edge or scuff can be part of the memory. Preserve what matters, but let the journal look lived-in.
